How does Botox treatment work?

When injected into a muscle, Botulinum Toxin (Botox®) blocks nerve signals to temporarily relax the muscle. Dynamic wrinkles are prevented from forming because the nerve impulses are stopped and the muscle is temporarily unable to contract. This makes the skin appear more youthful, softer, and smoother.

Are the injections painful?

Given that a very fine needle is used, Botox injections are generally painless. As a result, patients do not need any anaesthetic. The entire procedure lasts for roughly 15-20 minutes, and you can drive and go to work the same day.

Are there any adverse effects?

Botox treatments have very few adverse effects. Occasionally, people report a little localised discomfort and tenderness following injections. There may be some slight swelling at the injection site, but this normally goes away within 48 hours. Additionally, some minor bruising is possible. What After Care Advice Should I Follow?

Vigorous exercise and alcohol-based products, should be avoided for 48hours post treatment, as these can increase possibility of bruising. If bruising develops, Arnica cream can be used. Paracetamol can be taken for mild pain post procedure if required, avoid any anti-inflammatory medications as these can increase the risk of bruising.
